Early 911 specialise in pre-1974 911s, but we know a bit about the cars up to 1989.  They are all very similar underneath, the basic shell having many interchangeable panels from 1964 to 1989.

All Porsches are identified by their model year (August to July), rather than year of registration. The main changes made were 1969 (wheelbase increase), 1970 (2.2 motor), 1972 (2.4 motor and 915 gearbox), 1974 (impact bumper shape, 2.7 motor), 1977 (911 SC) ,1984 (3.2 motor), 1987 (G50 gearbox). The following chart is not exhaustive but gives a guide to the models by year.

All these cars suffer from rust, which is the main issue to be worried about, even on the cars that have galvanised shells.  Even the youngest of these is nearly 20 years old and galvanising gives only a limited period of protection, especially if the car has had any repair work carried out.  Have a look at the following page for these rust issues
