Sand blasting was carried out at the far end of the farm, the noise is incredible and quite unbearable without ear defenders
The blasting easily removes paint, filler and rust, but can’t shift the original Porsche stone chip or glue, so ensure that when the carpets are removed all the adhesive is removed as well. The stone chip can
be removed with a hot air gun and scraper.
Putting the shell on a spit made the job much easier, as did removing the obviously rusted panels first, in this case the front wing joining plates, inner and outer sills and the left rear quarter. The metal
that has now been revealed shows the poor original design of the 911.
There is corrosion wherever mud has been trapped under the front and rear wings. The front suspension pan, floors and chassis are all in near perfect condition.
